New Beginnings and Renewed Commitment

Hey, Patient Earth family,

It's been a whirlwind these past few months, and I owe you all an apology for my silence. Between writing scholarship essays, tackling finals, and soaking up the last precious moments of high school with my friends, I’ve hardly had a moment to catch my breath, let alone write. But now, as I sit on the other side of that last day of school and right before graduation, I feel an incredible sense of excitement and renewal. I’m ready to dive back into one of the things I love most: exploring ways to protect our planet and combat diseases that affect our world.

One of the reasons I have been away was trying to decide which school I would attend next year. I was blessed to be accepted to many of my favorites, but the decision was hard. I knew I wanted a school that would challenge me and has a reputation for being a great research school. After visiting the University of Florida, I knew where my heart was taking me. I decided to commit to the University of Florida Honors Program as a biochemistry major! I can’t wait to bring my passion for environmental protection, public health, and research to UF, and I’m looking forward to all the opportunities and challenges ahead. I hope to engage in meaningful research while there, helping to further our understanding and finding innovative solutions for a healthier planet.

As I look forward to this new chapter, I’m reminded of why I started Patient Earth in the first place. Our planet is facing unprecedented challenges, from climate change to pollution, deforestation to biodiversity loss. At the same time, we’re grappling with global health crises, both new and old, that threaten the well-being of communities worldwide. Now more than ever, it’s crucial that we come together to find sustainable solutions and promote healthy living.

I’m going to be dive back into research and share articles on some key topics that have been on my mind lately:

  1. Sustainable Living Practices: Small changes in our daily routines can make a big difference. I’ll be exploring ways to reduce our carbon footprint, from adopting zero-waste lifestyles to making eco-friendly choices in our homes.

  2. Innovative Environmental Technologies: Technology can be a powerful ally in our fight to protect the earth. I’ll highlight some of the most promising innovations, from renewable energy sources to recycling and waste management advancements.

  3. Global Health Initiatives: Tackling disease requires a global effort. I’ll be sharing stories of successful health campaigns and ongoing research into combating diseases like malaria, tuberculosis, and emerging viral threats.

  4. Community Action and Advocacy: Real change often starts at the grassroots level. I’ll examine how communities around the world are organizing to protect their environments and improve public health and how we can all get involved in advocacy efforts.

I’m thrilled to be heading to UF, where I know I’ll have the chance to learn from some of the brightest minds in science. Through the biochemistry program, I hope to engage in research that aligns with my passion for protecting our planet and combating diseases. This hands-on experience will be invaluable as I consider the various paths I might take in life.

To all my fellow graduates, congratulations! As we move forward, let’s carry our passion and dedication into everything we do. And to everyone reading this, thank you for sticking with me. Your support means the world, and I can’t wait to continue this journey together.

Stay tuned for more updates soon, and remember: every action, no matter how small, can contribute to a healthier planet and world.
